Awareness & Care
For us at the CoSy Festival, awareness means consciously, openly, and sensitively
designing spaces with the goal of ensuring that everyone feels welcome, safe, and seen. We
are committed not only to accepting differences but also to actively celebrating them. We
want to create connections where people can come together in their diversity, regardless of
gender identity, ethnic or social background, age, physical or mental condition, sexual
orientation, religion, worldview, or other characteristics.
Discrimination and sexualized violence happen everywhere, including at festivals. This is not
only due to individual people, but also to the structural power dynamics in
our society. That is why we need spaces and structures that actively work against
discrimination and assault. That is exactly what we aim to do with Awareness: observe,
listen, protect, and learn. And together, create spaces where we treat one another with
mindfulness and respect.
Our Awareness Team is committed to creating a festival space that is sensitive to
discrimination, where everyone can move freely and safely without fear of
boundary violations, assaults, or exclusion. Our vision is a CoSy Festival where Awareness
is not just a structure, but a lived reality. So deeply embedded that no extra team would be
needed. But we know this vision won’t happen on its own. Discrimination, violence, and
abuse of power happen. Even at festivals. And that is exactly why we need awareness
structures, contact persons, and clear stances. Until our utopia becomes reality, we are
here.

We want to promote a considerate and harmonious coexistence so that every person at the
festival can flourish as freely and carefree as possible.

Everyone is welcome

Come as you are — we'll adapt.
We work to break down barriers and include as many people as possible. Accessible routes
and toilets are signposted. Quiet retreat spaces are open to anyone who needs calm. If you
need support — whether due to mobility, overwhelm, mental health, or other needs — just
reach out.
Respect every boundary.
Only yes means yes. A no is a no — always! Physical, verbal, and emotional boundary
violations have no place here and can result in exclusion from the festival.
Ask before you act.
Consent is a prerequisite, whether for touch, conversation, dancing, or taking photos.
Boundaries are individual, non-negotiable, and differ from person to person. So:
always obtain consent before approaching someone.
Ask for pronouns and use them correctly, wrong assumptions can cause harm.
We respect privacy.
No photos or videos are permitted on the dancefloor, and in general: people may only be
recorded with their explicit consent. Do not share recordings in which people are
recognizable without their permission.
If you're unsure: better skip the photo.
Be mindful – of yourself.
Know your limits. Take breaks. Take responsibility for your consumption and your decisions.
Look after yourself and get help if you need it — from the Awareness Team, the medics
(Sanis), or PsyCare.
What to do in an emergency:
• Go to the Awareness Team (purple vests)
• Speak to medics or security
• Go to the Support Point (ground floor)
• Spiked drink? — Come to us immediately, no explanation needed
You decide what happens next. We only act if you want us to — unless there is immediate
danger to you or others.

of our Code of Conduct.

Art exhibition
From July 17 to 19, 2025, Dornburg Castle will once again open its doors for our art exhibition—free of charge and open to everyone. Away from the festival, we invite you to discover a wide variety of works and enjoy the day with DJ sets, live music, and theater performances. Come by and be inspired!
Daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (as of 2025)
Bicycle
Dornburg Castle is located along the Elbe Cycle Route and invites you to visit it on an idyllic bike tour. Signposts along the route are easy to spot.
Don’t want to ride alone? Then sign up for our “Bouncy Bike Tour”, accompanied by a DJ with soundsystem.
The tour lasts about 1.5 hours.
We'll make a quick stop at the lake - don't forget your swimsuits!
Meeting point: Magdeburg Central Station, Willy-Brandt-Platz by the blue van (you'll recognize us!)
You can load your luggage into our van. No carrying – just pedaling!

Camping
- Camping is included in the ticket price and is only possible in the designated areas in the Schlossgarten. Please follow the instructions of the staff members.
- Book an additional campervan ticket if you would like to arrive with your campervan.
- Pavilions are not welcome as they usually end up as garbage and there are plenty of opportunities to chill out and socialize on the grounds.
- Open fires are prohibited and will result in immediate exclusion from the event.
- The use of camping stoves is only permitted at the designated fire pit in front of the castle. Pay attention to and follow the instructions of the staff members!
- Use pocket ashtrays! These are available free of charge at the entrance and the bar. We will clean the entire area after the event. You are in the Elbe Biosphere Reserve, so please treat your environment with respect.
- Separate your waste properly! A waste separation concept will be implemented throughout the festival site (organic, plastic, paper/cardboard, glass, residual waste). Think about sensible waste consumption in advance!
Cashless
Our festival is cashless – all food and drink stands accept chip payments only. You can top up your chip balance at our on-site Top-Up Station, either with cash or card.
For supporters: Your chip is also used to pay out your supporter deposit, which you'll receive back immediately after your shifts and can spend straight away.
After the festival, you can either donate your remaining balance to us or have it transferred back to your bank account.
Tip: For the shuttle, massage, or our donation box, we recommend bringing a small amount of cash.
Code of Conduct
The CoSy Festival is a place for EVERYONE!
We want to take a break from everyday life together, celebrate, and have a carefree time. The
Code of Conduct serves as a guideline for our actions and what we stand for — as a team,
community, and those responsible — so that everyone feels as safe as possible and can
express themselves freely and without constraint. It applies to ALL visitors, artists, and
participants of the festival.

Directions
Around 75% of CO2 emissions at festivals are caused by car travel. The entire CoSy Festival team deeply cares about ecological sustainability and environmental protection. That’s why we’d be absolutely thrilled if you chose not to travel by car and instead took advantage of one of our alternative options. We’ll be organizing several group bike tours from Magdeburg! More info on that coming soon.
A small step from each of us already solves most of the problem.
If you still decide to come by car, you’ll need to purchase an additional parking ticket in out ticketshop.

The best train station for reaching the festival site is Prödel.
Travel times to Prödel:

From Prödel station, it's about a 1.5 km / 25-minute walk to Schloss Dornburg. If you'd rather not walk, you can take our shuttle for a small donation (more info under "Shuttle").

Recommendation
We recommend traveling by bike not only because of the positive environmental impact: The district of Jerichower Land offers a true variety of beautifully situated lakes that invite you to swim, refresh and relax. A short trip here during the festival calms the mind and invigorates the senses - our absolute insider tip!!!

Entry
The festival officially kicks off on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with our opening ceremony.
The campground opens as early as Thursday at 3:00 p.m.: Find yourself a nice spot, explore the nearby lakes, and bring some of your own food. We have a little surprise in store for you this evening!

The festival grounds will therefore not be accessible until Friday at 11:30 a.m. However, water, restrooms, and showers will already be available at the campgrounds.

History of the Castle
For the Contrasts in Symbiosis Festival, it is crucial not to ignore the historical significance of the location. We are operating in a building that served as a “wild concentration camp” in the 1930s—a place of early Nazi violence that is hardly present in German remembrance culture. Our event cannot relativize this history, nor should it cover it up. Rather, we accept the tension between past and present and deliberately keep it open. Confronting history is part of our responsibility – as is the attempt to give the place a new, living meaning today without relativizing or forgetting its past.
The fact that the Contrast in Symbiosis Festival is taking place here means that we are exposing ourselves to history instead of avoiding it. We also use the public attention generated by a festival to draw attention to a place that would otherwise remain largely hidden, like many other early SA detention centers in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. The aim is not to “heal” the place through culture, but to keep its past visible and not to allow the space to fall back into silence and decay.
We therefore work together with institutions that have been providing professional reappraisal for years, including the Lichtenburg/Prettin concentration camp memorial, the Saxony-Anhalt Memorials Foundation, and the Dornburg Local History and Stengel Association. These connections help us to correctly classify historical references and not reduce responsibility to symbolic gestures. To this end, we work with Sekko Soziale, among others, which supports initiatives to help right-wing extremists leave the movement under the motto “Encourage instead of exclude.” CoSy does not see itself as a project of remembrance politics, but as a festival that is aware of its situation and draws conclusions from it: we name history, we do not conceal it, and we help to ensure that a place of former violence does not fall into oblivion again. For this reason, we will be showing the traveling exhibition “The Beginning of Terror: Early Concentration Camps in National Socialism” at the festival, which has been made available to us by the Lichtenburg/Prettin Memorial.

20% more unisex seated toilets and 90% more urinals are planned than required. In addition, two washbasins with running water and disinfectant dispensers are available at each of the 4 toilet stations.

Contrasts in Symbiosis Festival
Our Core Idea
Wherever people meet, different needs come together. With an inclusive event, we are
making a statement for community — open, barrier-free, and at eye level.
For us, inclusion does not only mean the participation of people with disabilities. Inclusion
means there is no 'every person for themselves' attitude here: everyone is equal. We
celebrate togetherness — regardless of nationality, religion, social background, sexual
orientation or gender.
Principle: No hesitation, no fear of speaking up or getting something wrong — just
ask.
1. Physical Accessibility
Getting There & Parking
The festival grounds are reachable by various means of transport — by train, car and
bicycle. Detailed travel information is available on the website. We are exploring whether the
shuttle service can be made wheelchair-accessible.
Accessible parking spaces for people with disabilities are reserved directly on the castle
grounds.
Signage & Orientation
• High-contrast, sufficiently large directional signs throughout the entire grounds
• Illuminated floor arrows with colour coding for intuitive navigation
• Obstacles such as steps are marked with high contrast
• Pathways and signs are lit for evening situations
• We plan to work with inclusion mentors to guide and assist persons with visible or
non-visible disabilities
Pathways & Ground Surface
A core goal is to make as many areas of the grounds as possible wheelchair-accessible:
• The entrance area and the castle forecourt are paved with cobblestones (with small
gaps)
• Special mats will be laid from the Inclusion Camp to the accessible toilet. If budget
allows, mats will also be laid in other areas such as the castle garden. This is not yet
possible at this time.
• Ramps connect different ground levels in the castle garden; wherever possible we
plan a maximum gradient of 6% and a minimum width of 120 cm
• Access to the castle (ground floor) and out into the garden is ensured via a ramp
• The basement and upper floor are not structurally accessible; inclusion mentors will
help with carrying there
Toilets & Sanitary Facilities
• One accessible toilet is located directly at the Inclusion Camp
• Standard toilets are available on every floor and marked with priority signs
• An accessible shower in the Inclusion Camp is being planned
• Provision of further accessible sanitary facilities in the castle garden and camping
areas is being reviewed
Doors, Rooms & Access
• Doors are wide enough for wheelchairs; no automatic door openers are available, but
inclusion mentors are on hand to assist
• Corridors and rooms are generally kept spacious
Stages & Venues
• Our vision is to set up a raised platform with a good view in front of each stage,
ideally with shade or rain protection — at this point in time we cannot guarantee this
at every stage
• Seating is provided at every stage
Seating & Rest Zones
The festival offers various spaces to retreat:
• Inclusion Camp: tarp, sofa and mats as a retreat area for people with special needs
• Castle garden: two terraces and a sauna area (the sauna area is unfortunately not
accessible)
• Ground floor: Awareness Room and PsyCare Room
• Upper floor: two CoSy Rooms with partial wheelchair access
• Seating is planned at every stage
Accessible Furniture & Cooling
• A lowered bar counter allows use by wheelchair users at the ground floor bar
• Beer tables in the food court have a standard height of 67 cm
• An accessible fridge is available for persons with cooling needs (e.g. for medication)
— access via entrance staff or inclusion mentors
• Camp beds can be relocated by arrangement
2. Inclusion Mentors
A team of inclusion mentors forms the heart of personal support at the festival. At least two
inclusion mentors are on duty per shift and reachable by radio. If there are insufficient
applications for inclusion shifts, the better-staffed awareness team will step in.
Their tasks include:
• Guidance and orientation assistance across the entire grounds
• Support in overcoming stairs (carrying wheelchair users together with their
wheelchairs)
• Access to the fridge and accessible sanitary facilities
• Regular checks to ensure pathways are passable and toilets are clean
• First point of contact for all questions relating to accessibility
Inclusion mentors receive training in advance covering the following topics:
• Site knowledge: fridge, Inclusion Camp, accessible toilets and showers, first aid,
awareness and quiet rooms, low-stimulus areas, times and locations of light shows
• Instructions for safely carrying and accompanying wheelchair users

4. Financial Accessibility
In order not to exclude people with lower incomes, the festival offers affordable and
individualised ticket options. Persons with a severe disability pass may bring one
accompanying person free of charge. Proof must be shown at the entrance.
It is possible to apply to work as a Supporti in various areas and earn your ticket that way.
5. Accessibility & Participation
We understand accessibility not only as a structural but also as a social responsibility — and
we are open to suggestions and feedback.
Equal access to basic information and products is important to us: free tap water is available
at designated water stations and at the bar. Free menstrual products (tampons and pads)
are available in all toilets and at central points such as the info point.
6. Food & Allergens
• All food trucks and bars are asked to display allergens and ingredients clearly
• Inclusion mentors are available for guidance in the food court if needed

Lost & Found
All lost and found items will be stored in Magdeburg for a maximum of one year. If they are not picked up by then, you might find them next year at the screen printing booth ;)

Parking
We want to make sure every guest has enough space to camp and settle in properly. Our location is special – and that means our options are limited. That's why we're counting on your help: if you don't absolutely need to drive, you'd be doing us and the whole community a huge favour by taking public transport instead. Around 75% of festival CO₂ emissions come from people driving to the event – together, we can do better.
To keep things running smoothly for everyone: parking is only permitted with a valid parking ticket. Vehicles without a ticket or parked outside the designated areas will unfortunately have to be towed. Please make sure to purchase your parking ticket in our ticket shop beforehand.
Cars
Cars must be parked at the Dannigkow car park, located 4.7 km from the castle. From there, our shuttle will bring you to the castle in about 10 minutes.
If you're traveling together, it's a good idea to drop off all your passengers at the castle. This not only saves you time, but also helps us reduce the load on the shuttle <3

Caravans / Campervans / Motorhomes
Parking spots directly at the castle are exclusively reserved for campervans, caravans, motorhomes and disabled parking. Spaces are very limited and pre-assigned – open spot selection is unfortunately not possible.

If you're coming by train and would like our shuttle to pick you up in Prödel, please bring some cash for the transfer.

Sustainability
Out of love for nature and a future worth living, we are implementing the following measures:
- Travel by bike, bus, public transport if possible
- Avoidance of fossil fuels in electricity generation.
- Waste separation on the entire festival area, maximum 25 meters distance to the next waste separator.
- Return of €10 when a correctly separated bin liner is handed in
- Eco-toilets instead of chemical-dixies

Code of Conduct
The CoSy Festival has officially signed the Code of Conduct for a sustainable and climate-friendly festival operation.
The outdoor version of the Code of Conduct "Celebrate the Future!" was developed by the Clubtopia initiative together with event organizers from the festival and open-air scene. With the sustainability code, organizers commit to specific goals for climate and environmental protection, such as conserving resources and nature, saving water, and addressing social aspects. The goals of the Code of Conduct are binding, but this does not mean they must be fully achieved from the start; rather, festivals and open-airs are expected to make progress toward them. To reach these goals, signatories can select from a detailed pool of measures the suggestions that best fit their event and location. The Code of Conduct for sustainable festival culture is an extension of the Code of Conduct for sustainable club culture "Celebrate the Future!" from Clubtopia, a project by clubliebe e.V. and BUND Berlin. The sustainability code was developed within the framework of the round tables for a green club culture and published in September 2021.

Clubtopia is a collaboration project of the Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Berlin e.V. and clubliebe e.V., dedicated to climate and environmental protection within the club and festival scene. The project is supported by Clubcommission Berlin and Livekomm and is funded by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection, and the Environment.
Ticket Transfer
There's no official resale platform for CoSy tickets. However, if you need to pass your ticket on, you can easily update the name on the ticket yourself – up until one day before the event, so by August 6th 2026.
You'll find the link to change the name in your purchase confirmation email. Just enter the new details there and you're good to go.
Please note: Tickets passed on via third-party platforms or without a name change cannot be guaranteed entry at the gate.
Water
"Water for all" is one of the pillars of the Love Foundation and therefore an absolute human right for us. That's why tap water is always available to everyone at two designated stations and at the bar.
Deposit
Drinks
Bottles from our bars belong back where they came from – either directly at the bar or in one of the crates at our glass stations. Please don't use them as ashtrays or leave them lying around in the dirt: damaged or dirty bottles can't be reused by the brewery and have to be destroyed.
Bottles you bring from outside (third-party glass) go into the broken glass bins for recycling, as it's simply not possible for us to collect, sort, and return all the different bottles to their respective manufacturers. If you bring deposit bottles from home, please take them back with you – for the sake of the environment.
Food
At our festival, we do away with single-use crockery entirely – no plastic plates, no disposable bowls. Instead, we use reusable dishes and charge a deposit on every item (plates, bowls, and cutlery). You pay this deposit when ordering food at the food stand – or at the Crew Catering if you're joining us as a supporter.
After use, please give your dishes a quick rinse so our crew can then properly sanitise them. Return them to our deposit station in the foyer of the Schloss, and the deposit will be credited straight back to your wristband.
Of course, you're also welcome to keep your dishes for the whole festival or even take them home – that's what the deposit is for after all.
Garbage deposit
Your ticket automatically includes a €10 trash deposit. On arrival, you'll be handed a trash bag – bring it back full to any of our waste stations and you'll get your deposit straight back. One rule: don't swipe someone else's bag.
The deposit lives digitally on your wristband chip. On your way out, hand in your full bag and it gets cleared on the spot.
